KELLY
Chairperson
I joined the board of the Rainbow Literacy and Learning Society in 2012. I was an elementary teacher on maternity leave, and Rainbow gave me an outlet for my pedagogical impulse to promote the importance of literacy. Rainbow recognizes that not only is literacy an empowering skill for children, but promoting continuing education for adolescents and adults empowers us all to be lifelong learners. Over the years I have served as board member, secretary, vice chair and chair, and I am proud of the contributions that Rainbow Literacy has made to our community. I give my heartfelt thanks to all of those who serve Rainbow Literacy as staff members, board members and volunteers.

KATIE

NAOMI

As a RN and a mother of 3 beautiful children I am passionate for what Rainbow Literacy and Learning Society has to offer for both families, adults and our community members.

CATHIE
Director
I have always been interested in literacy, and how children acquire language and reading skills. I worked as a kindergarten teacher, as a librarian and then as a builder for Rainbow.
When I stopped being a builder I wanted to keep contact with Rainbow Literacy’s programs and goals, so joining the board seemed the best solution to this

BARBARA
Executive Director
I joined Rainbow Literacy and Learning Society in 2012. Since this time our society has grown and become a stronger part of our community. We have and continue to work alongside many individuals and families in being a small part of their journey.

ANGELA
Administrative Assistant
I joined Rainbow Literacy in 2014, after I moved back to Vulcan from Calgary, to raise my family. What I love most about Rainbow is the classes we offer for families and adults. From Building Blocks to English Language Learning to Internet Café. Our classes provide a way to connect people to whichever learning opportunity they are seeking for growth and fulfillment. I'm proud that our facilitators are thoroughly trained and certified in each class they teach. I;ve enjoyed working here for the past 6 years and hope to enjoy more years to come here.

ASHLEY
Family Navigator
I joined Rainbow Literacy and Learning Society in 2019. I bring a background of more formal education as a school teacher but as a mother I see the need for more community support in informal learning, socialization and the benefits of programs that are supported by research.

TEAM MEMBER
Adult Literacy Coordinator
We are currently seeking a community member for this position.

DAWN
Facilitator
I joined the Rainbow Literacy team in 2012 as a Tutor and very soon afterward became a Facilitator for both family and adult literacy programs. I have always enjoyed teaching people new skills and providing opportunities for learners to reach their full potential. The enthusiasm and joy that I see in my learners every day make my job so rewarding. It is said that if you work at a job that you are passionate about, it doesn't feel like a job. This has proved to be true in my role as a facilitator over the past ten years. Learning for life is very important to me both personally and professionally. I try to instill the joy of learning in each of my learners.

RUTHANN
Facilitator
Why did I join Rainbow Literacy and Learning Society? Building Blocks in Home Visitation Services. I needed an extra job and I love learning and sharing! Over the years the exposure to Piaget to the latest Brain theory. The various speakers talk about FAS, Autism, Sensory, yoga and music meditations, parenting skills, 9 essential skills, and many more. Attending workshops as a group and building friendships. Presenting at the literacy workshop in Edmonton and also at The school for the Deaf. The amount of professional development to enhance family literacy is beyond words. I guess in a lot of ways it filled the gap for my love to strengthen families to grow beyond!!
