RAINBOW LITERACY AND LEARNING SOCIETY
Vibrant, welcoming and engaging learning experiences that empower everyone to achieve personal goals and contribute to an enhanced quality of life.
Rainbow Literacy is a non-profit society with charitable status that provides literacy support and education through accessible programs and services to improve the quality of life for everyone in Vulcan County
WHO WE ARE
Rainbow Literacy and Learning Society was started by a group of passionate volunteers who saw a need for a grassroots approach for Literacy & Learning within Vulcan County.
We were founded in 1988 and became a society in 1993 and received charitable status in 1997.
SUPPORTING LEARNING IN OUR COMMUNITY
The heart of our organization are the people who contribute either directly or indirectly to benefit our learners. Here are some of the wonderful ways people help.
TUTORS/FACILITATORS
We are always looking for local people interested in working for us to provide learning opportunities, classes, or workshops in the community.
While we do ask our Tutors/Facilitators to offer time commitment to their learner and our onboarding practices such as training, a background in education is not necessary. Good communication skills, a sense of humour, an appreciation for diversity and an understanding of the content you are working on is what you need.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
If you have a desire to strengthen your community, we invite you to apply as a Board Member. We try to limit the time commitment for all members.
Referrals, Collaboration & Partnerships
Community agencies, schools, employers, health practitioners, emergency services, friends, and family members all know our potential learners, but those learners don't always know us, so we are grateful for the referrals.
We also welcome, the chance to collaborate or partner with community members. If you're not familiar with us but would like to know more, please let us know. We would love to chat.
